A global B2B company is searching for a Corporate Communications Specialist for its Chicagoland office. This person will participate in the development of the Company’s communication planning process including knowledge of key stakeholders, development of key messages and tactical plans to support the Company’s positioning and priorities.This person will serve as a communications and branding advisor, partnering with internal stakeholders early on in planning communications/messaging and manages through implementation and measurement.

This person must:

  • Be able to adapt news / stories to fit multiple audiences and levels of understanding across a variety of business areas and communications channels
  • Show demonstrated ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work effectively on a range of projects concurrently, especially in a demanding environment under tight deadlines.
  • Be a self-starter capable of assuming oversight and responsibility for several tasks at once with little supervision.
  • Have at least 3-5 years of B2B communications experience. 

 Responsibilities:

  • Business support: Serves as a business contact and provides communications counsel to key functional leaders/teams – including coaching and feedback to develop communications skills within the function; supports drafting, editing, review and production of content; advises / supports on global meeting/conference branding and messaging. Gains knowledge and expertise about the specific focus area of business and uses that knowledge to implement and reinforce business priorities for the Group.
  • Internal customer and product champion: Partners cross-functionally with business functions to build communication strategies and tactics that introduce new or reinforce existing customers/products/services; enhance brand reputation; elevate leadership and reputation; and engender engagement, pride and loyalty.
  • Internal communications / corporate brand owner: As part of the Corporate Communications team, leads and/or supports team members in development and implementation of employee and corporate brand campaigns and care-taking of corporate brand usage, understanding and positioning.
  • External corporate communications (national, local and business/B2B media across print, broadcast and digital platforms): Proactively identify media opportunities and spot news stories. Write and edit corporate statements, press releases, contributed stories, presentations and other PR materials to sell into media. Organize media events, draft briefs and key message documents for spokespeople to give interviews that positively promote the work of the Company. Build and maintain excellent relationships with appropriate media contacts across news, business and lifestyle in the US. Research, write and edit blogs and thought leadership pieces to promote expertise.
  • Additional duties (as needed): Examples of additional duties may include team maintenance functions, editing/writing of stories for timely communications channels/events; generating, monitoring and updating content for internal channels and other on-line resources when required; acting as a meeting/event coordinator for Company townhalls, roadshows or special meetings/events.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communicator with ability to create effective written, oral and web content across internal and external audiences and platforms
  • Demonstrated experience in brand, internal and external communications campaign planning, implementation and measurement
  • Ability to build strong working relationships across levels and regions
  • Media relations experience of national, local and business/B2B media across print, broadcast and digital platforms
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
